Accessibility
We are committed to providing an accessible experience for every borrower.
Pragmatic Mortgage Lending aims to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA across our public site and dashboard. Accessibility is part of how we measure product quality — not a bolt-on. We test new flows against the WCAG criteria (perceivable, operable, understandable, robust) before they ship, and we re-test the existing flows whenever a major redesign lands.
What we test
- Keyboard navigation: every interactive element is reachable and operable with a keyboard, with a visible focus state.
- Color contrast: text, icons, and interactive borders meet WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text and UI components).
- Screen-reader support: NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver on the latest Chrome, Firefox, and Safari; we verify landmarks, headings, form labels, and live regions.
- Form accessibility: every input has a programmatic label, error messages are associated with their field, and submission errors are announced to assistive tech.
- Motion: respect the user's
prefers-reduced-motionsetting — animations and parallax effects are disabled when requested. - Text sizing: layout remains usable at 200% browser zoom and at 320 CSS-pixel width.
Known areas we are working on
No platform is perfect. The following are areas on our current roadmap rather than blockers — we list them here so you know what to expect:
- Some long-form PDF documents (third-party lender forms) are not yet fully tagged for screen readers. We provide alt-format summaries on request and are working with our lender partners on accessible source files.
- The mortgage calculator embeds an iframe; we are migrating it to a fully server-rendered form for better keyboard and screen-reader support.
